Update #1: Seeking Assistance in Fatal Traffic Investigation at Lowry Ave and Falcon Drive
Traffic investigators are seeking the communities help in locating the driver of a 2005-2008 Silver Toyota Corolla which was believed to be involved in the fatal vehicle – pedestrian collision at Lowry Avenue and Falcon Drive on Monday April 19 at about 8:30 pm. Traffic investigators processed the scene, finding what appears to be a piece of a 2005-2008 Silver Toyota Corolla. In addition, an image of the vehicle was taken from a witness’s dashcam.
The Alameda County Coroner’s Office has identified the pedestrian as David Jose Sanchez (49) out of Newark who was homeless at the time of the collision. Fremont Chief of Police Kimberley Petersen offers her sincere condolences to Mr. Sanchez’s family.

Initial Press Release: Fatal Traffic Collision at Lowry Ave and Falcon Drive
On Monday April 19th, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Fremont police and fire personnel responded to the area of Lowry Ave/Falcon Dr. A witness driving by on the opposite side of the road saw a person laying in the roadway; as they were approaching the person a compact vehicle drove over the person and kept going. The witnesses stopped and went to the person who was still alive. They provided life saving measures prior to police and fire personnel’s arrival. Unfortunately the person had succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
At this time, traffic investigators are still trying to determine why the person was laying on the roadway. Investigators are reviewing dashcam video which recorded the collision. They are also looking for additional surveillance camera video(s) that may have captured the collision. This is Fremont’s fifth fatal traffic collision for 2021.
