On Saturday, June 26, 2021, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Fremont Police and Fremont Fire personnel were notified of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Decoto Road west of Paseo Padre Parkway. The pedestrian, Jorge Ramirez (43) a homeless male from Fremont, was walking across Decoto Road outside of any crosswalk when he was struck by the vehicle traveling westbound. Ramirez was transported to a local trauma center with major injuries, where he currently remains in critical condition. The driver, a 49-year-old man out of Fremont, made the initial 9-1-1 call and has been cooperative with investigators. No drugs or alcohol are suspected factors in this collision.
