Dear Fremont Community,
Earlier today (November 8, 2025), at approximately 6:51 a.m., federal law enforcement contacted the Fremont Police Department to advise that immigration enforcement and/or follow-up would occur in areas throughout the City of Fremont. The FPD was provided with limited information, which included that federal law enforcement would be in uniform and driving unmarked vehicles. The FPD was not given specific names of individuals or other details.
The FPD maintained awareness of the presence of federal law enforcement for several hours. At approximately 9:49 a.m., FPD was advised that the deployment had concluded and federal officers were leaving the City of Fremont. The FPD was not provided with details or information related to the results or actions of federal law enforcement deployed in the City of Fremont. We have no reports or information regarding the number (if any) of detentions or arrests.
Aligned with state law and department policy, the FPD will not engage in immigration enforcement activities. Therefore, the FPD did not provide support, resources, or information during this federal immigration deployment. The FPD does not have the authority or the ability to prevent federal government immigration enforcement efforts. Unless state law mandates intervention to avoid or mitigate unlawful use of force or other crimes, the FPD cannot impede or interfere with federal immigration violation investigations.
We understand the concerns of our local community members. The Fremont Police Department will continue to align with state law, policy, and established community service objectives.
