June 27, 2026, Fatal Traffic Collision

On Saturday, June 27, 2026, at approximately 4:34 p.m., Fremont Police officers responded to the area of Auto Mall Parkway and Grimmer Boulevard regarding a major injury traffic collision involving a passenger vehicle and a bicyclist riding an electric bike. The vehicle was traveling westbound on Auto Mall Parkway in the designated right-turn lane for the northbound I-880 onramp. The bicyclist was traveling eastbound in the westbound bicycle lane at the onramp entrance, where the two collided.

The bicyclist, an adult male, sustained head trauma and was transported to an area hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Identity of the deceased is pending positive identification from the Alameda County Coroner's Office and notification of the next of kin. The driver of the vehicle, an adult female, was not injured and remained at the scene, fully cooperating with the investigation. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
