Chief Floyd Mitchell

Led by Chief Floyd Mitchell, the Office of the Chief oversees all aspects of the police department and the following Divisions:

  • Chief’s Youth Advisory Board

Our Chief serves as a steady, compassionate leader who helps guide the community toward safety, trust, and shared understanding. At the heart of the role is a commitment to building strong relationships—ensuring community members feel heard, respected, and valued. Our Chief works every day to uphold fairness and integrity, creating an environment where people can count on their police department as a reliable partner.

Our Chief leads with both professionalism and humanity, supporting officers while also listening closely to community concerns. By fostering open dialogue, encouraging collaborative problem‑solving, and championing best practices in modern policing, our Chief helps ensure that public safety efforts are not only effective, but rooted in transparency and accountability.

Our Chief also looks ahead—planning thoughtfully, embracing innovation, and strengthening the department’s ability to respond to the needs of a growing and diverse community. Through consistent communication, strategic leadership, and genuine connection, our Chief works to create a city where everyone feels safe, supported, and included.
