Throughout 2026, the Fremont Police Department will be rolling out new vehicle platforms to face the evolving needs of the community regarding crime suppression efforts, traffic safety, and community engagement.  The newly formed Special Vehicles Team (SVT) is a collateral assignment with officers trained on various specialized vehicles to meet modern day challenges.  SVT was created based on the previous Bicycle Unit with capabilities to access areas that are difficult for the standard patrol vehicle. 

SVT Officers will be trained to operate the following specialized vehicles:

• Electric Motorcycles
• UTVs (Utility Terrain Vehicle)
• Electric bicycles
• Electric scooters
• Mountain bicycles

SVT updates will be provided as new vehicles begin to be deployed in the community.
