Whether it’s a casual conversation, a weekend festival, or an evening meeting to discuss neighborhood concerns, our officers are committed to being present, accessible, and engaged with the community. From large celebrations to small neighborhood gatherings, there’s an event for everyone. Our participation reflects our dedication to building strong relationships, fostering open communication, and creating a welcoming environment where residents can connect with us in meaningful ways.

Community Engagement Events Hosted by the Fremont Police Department

Coffee with a Cop/Chat with a Cop

The Fremont Police Department hosts a series of Coffee with a Cop events throughout the year. These events also include our Badges and Boba, Pizza with a Cop, Ice Cream with a Cop, and other similar events. The event offers an informal and friendly setting for community members to meet and greet with members of the department. Community members in attendance can discuss public safety concerns, share neighborhood concerns or just get acquainted with our staff and each other. Participating staff include Community Engagement Staff, Command Staff, Patrol, and Investigations.

National Night Out (NNO)

Let us come to you! Every year the Fremont Police Department participates in “America’s Night Out Against Crime,” know as National Night Out. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet with representatives from the City, including Fire, Police, and other departments, to engage in discussion and address your concerns. This event usually occurs in the evening of the first Tuesday of August, as designated by NATW, the founding organization of National Night Out.  The night is designed to heighten awareness of crime and drug prevention; generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and serious about combating crime. Host your own neighborhood party and register with us so we can visit your group.  Don't want to host your own party?  Join a public party hosted by the main library or major businesses in the City.  Learn more about National Night Out.

Safety Fair

Every two years, the Fremont Police Department hosts a Safety Fair on a weekend in an effort to further enhance community relationships, inform community members about public safety services, increase awareness of strategies aimed at protecting citizens from certain types of crimes and to provide transparency on law enforcement equipment and policing philosophy.  The Safety Fair also allows the public to provide feedback directly to the department/officers on issues that matter to them most. 

California-Designated Military Equipment Display

Each year at the end of March, the Fremont Police Department hosts its California-designated Military Equipment Display Event—an engaging, family‑friendly opportunity for the community to explore the tools and technology used in modern public safety operations. Attendees can tour our vehicles, watch live demonstrations of police robots and drones, and get an up‑close look at the specialized equipment used by our officers.

Held in the evening, this annual event reflects our commitment to transparency, education, and building strong community partnerships. We welcome all residents to join us, discover how these resources are used responsibly, and gain a deeper understanding of day‑to‑day police operations.

Neighborhood Crime Watch (NCW) Meetings

Have specific concerns about your neighborhood or want to engage with us in a more private setting?  Join our Neighborhood Crime Watch Program and let us come to you on your schedule.  NCW typically meets at least once a year with representatives from Fremont Police.  The meeting typically occurs in your neighborhood (e.g. a club house, someone's driveway or backyard) during a week night. Community Engagement Events Open to the General Public (Hosted by the City of Fremont or Other Organizations)

We host a community engagement booth in these public community events: Earth Day Fair, Burger and Brew Fest, Festival of Arts, Pride Fair, Disability Fair, HERS 5k Walk, Kaiser Safety Fair, Washington Hospital Safety Fair, Fremont Street Eats - First Responders Night, Fremont Street Eats -Halloween Edition, and other events as invited and as resources allow. 

We also participate in these community events an an entry (display of vehicle or parade entry): 4th of July Parade, Niles Festival of Lights Parade, and Niles Car Shows.
