Shop with a CopThe Fremont Police Department in cooperation with the Fremont Police Officers Association, Human Services Department, retail stores, the Fremont Bridge Rotary, and other local businesses sponsor the Annual Shop with a Cop event each December. The event has proven to be a huge success by the children involved, their parents, and the community of Fremont. The event is funded solely by community donations.

Program Information

The program invites children and families identified by the Human Services Department and gives them the opportunity to purchase holiday gifts for their family members during a shopping spree. Traditionally, the children are chauffeured to and from school by a Fremont Police Officer. Once they arrive at the store, they are escorted by the Police Officer and a special helper from the store to purchase their gifts. They are treated to planned activities, games, and lunch. The gifts the children purchase for their family members are wrapped and delivered to the Family Resource Center to be picked up by the family later in the day.

Due to recent health restrictions, we have slightly modified the event to invite kids and their families to provide the Department with a wish list so we can perform the shopping ahead of time.  Gifts for the children are purchased and wrapped ahead of time and picked up by the family together with the other gifts at the Police Department.

Shop with a Cop 2024

Shop with a Cop this year was another great success! We purchased gifts for 14 children and their families and invited them to celebrate with us at a special holiday celebration. The children received giveaways, watched a magic show, met officers, and made crafts before picking up their gifts. We also had several local organizations join us to make the day special for the kids. At the end of the event, we each child got to meet our Deputy Chief and Captains, who presented their gifts to them. We are so grateful that we were able to celebrate together!
