Important Notice on City of Fremont Facilities Closure

In an effort to help prevent the spread of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19), City of Fremont facilities, including the lobby of the Police Department, the Detention Facility, and the Tri-City Animal Shelter, will be closed to public visitors beginning Monday, March 16 through Tuesday, March 31, 2020. Free Gun Locks Available

Is your home safe from gun related accidents? Summer vacation and holiday season are high risk periods for gun related accidents and deaths. Participate in the Fremont Police Department's free gun lock giveaway program and protect your family and others from unnecessary tragedy.

Pick-Up Procedure

Free firearm safety kits, complete with a cable-style gun lock and a firearm safety brochure are available Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Fremont Police Department, located at 2000 Stevenson Boulevard. The free gun lock giveaway is part of the national Project ChildSafe Initiative. Funding is received from a U.S. Department of Justice grant.

Additional Information

When picking up gun locks, it is helpful to know the type of firearm(s) you have, such as a 22 or 25-caliber handgun, a rifle, etc. Please do not bring guns to the Police Department when picking up a gun lock kit(s).
